Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,--Hebrews 12:1

Daily Message: Colossians 3:17

This Colossians, chapter 3 is proving to be just packed with verses calling out to be used this week! Today's verse tells me that we need to live every hour of every day, in everything we do in a way that let's God's light shine through us.

One thing I've learned in life, is that people are always watching you. Some admire you, so they watch what you do. Some despise you, so they watch what you do. Some love you, so they watch what you do. And some hate you, so they watch what you do. Whatever the reason, people are always watching you. Some want to see you succeed. Others want to see you fail. Some want to praise you. Others want to ridicule you. But there are always people watching what we do.
"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." ~ Colossians 3:17

That's one of the reasons it's so important that we try to live all the time in a way that pleases God, so that His light can shine through us. Our actions can either lead people toward God, or drive people away from Him. If everything we do, we do in the name of Jesus Christ, in a way that's pleasing to Him, and we always give Him thanks and praise for the blessings in our lives, we become a lantern shining bright with His light!

So today and everyday, we should try our best to do EVERYTHING in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, so that He might be glorified and others will be led to His everlasting light.
