Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,--Hebrews 12:1

PR at Toad Suck 10K!

The Lord blessed us with unbelievably beautiful running weather this morning, and blessed me with a huge PR!

At the same race a year ago, the temperature at the start was close to 800 with 100% humidity. Today it was 470 and raining. The rain stopped before I finished the first mile, but the clouds kept out the sun and the temperature never rose.
" Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights..." -- James 1:17

It was perfect running weather, but Jesus Christ blessed me even further this morning, with a nearly 2 minute PR for this distance!

I passed the one mile marker in 7:52, the 2nd in 7:56. I slowed some in mile 3, walking through a water stop before picking it back up, then walking up a short incline just before the 3 mile mark. That mile came in at 8:37. I slowed to a walk on a slightly longer hill in mile 4, and I was really feeling the unusually (for me) quick pace. This cost me some time and I finished mile 4 in 9:00. A pretty good downhill and knowing I was 2/3 of the way through allowed me to make up a little of the time lost in the previous mile. I covered mile 5 in 8:40. Mile 6 was good and flat, and I brought it in in 8:30.

For the duration, I averaged an 8:29 pace and crossed the finish in 52:35.27. My previous best was 54:32.5, so today was just shy of 2 minutes faster than my old best. Today I was blessed! There's just no other way to put it. This race was one of those "good and perfect" gifts from Jesus Christ!

My cup runneth over...
