Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,--Hebrews 12:1

Things we'll never do...

So many dreams were shattered
The night that we lost you.
Together now so many things
We'll never get to do.

Just shy of your birthday
Was when we learned the news.
Now celebrating eighteen years,
We'll never do with you.

We'd already bought your cap and gown,
For when you'd graduate.
Just one more thing we'll never see
Is you walk across that stage.

You planned to go to college
And later be a cop.
But now we'll never hear you tell
About your first traffic stop.

One day you would have met
Your perfect mister right.
But now we'll never see you
On your wedding night.

You spoke so very often
Of the time when you'd have kids.
Now we'll never see the time
Your unborn will live.

You'd never even gone to work
Or earned a living wage.
We'll never see you beam with pride
Because you paid your way.

You wanted so very badly
To live out on your own.
We'll never get to help you
Move in your first new home.

So many dreams were shattered
When we heard the awful news.
Now these are just a few things,
Together we'll never do.
