Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,--Hebrews 12:1

Happy Easter Amanda

1 On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2 They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3 but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4 While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5 In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6 He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7 'The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' " --Luke 24:1-7

Happy Easter Amanda

Oh my dear sweet daughter,
I just woke on Easter morn
To the second holiday we'll
Face now that you're gone.

These days are the hardest,
The most difficult of all.
The days you were so happy,
You were bouncing off the wall.

I looked forward to each Easter,
That bright twinkle in your eyes.
The one you had whenever
You were about to be surprised.

But today your room is empty,
And you're no longer here.
I'll miss your bouncing, smiling self
That I treasured so very dear.

The counter looks so different,
Where the Easter baskets are.
The space that now lies vacant
Like the hole that's in my heart.

I know you're in a better place
And that I'm thankful for.
One day again we'll be together
Beside our risen Lord.

Here, the holidays will never have
The same happiness and cheer.
Gatherings won't be as complete
As they were when you were here.

I must keep moving forward
For the ones you left behind.
To most I seldom show it,
But you're always on my mind.

It's time to wear my happy face
And go out into the world.
But first a Happy Easter wish
To my sweet, sweet baby girl.

The fact that Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, came to Earth to suffer and die so that we might live is the only reason I can keep going on. Because I know one day I'll see my dear Amanda in Heaven, I can suffer the pain and agony of losing her. It's still not easy. The pain is still here. It hurts every day. But I know she's with Jesus now, in a much better place. I'll keep going on, but I can only do so because I have the peace and security of knowing Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. If you want that same peace, even in the face of the worst of tragedies, visit our Got Jesus? page for instructions on how to invite Him into your heart.
